For those of you who prefer to venture out by road instead of by air, we have narrowed down your car snackin’ grocery list. There is a little bit of everything for everyone, from sweet and salty to healthy and filling. Review the top 20 road trip snacks below. Skinny Pop individual packages are also a favorite snack if you are watching caloric intake but have the munchies.

Nuts of any kind offer protein which is filling for traveling in between meal times. Individual packets help you monitor your intake without needing to be mindful of how much you’re consuming while concentrating on the road. Salt free and raw are always healthier options if you are more health conscious.

Eda-what?

Being health conscious and road tripping can be challenging, but not impossible. Thanks to the variety of Edamame and also in individual packets, it makes the list of the top 20 road trip snacks!

Pure Protein bars are often recommended by personal trainers due to the low sugar and high protein contents. My personal favorite is the chocolate peanut butter. These are amazingly filling and delicious! If you want filling, this makes the cut for one of the top 20 road trip snacks!

Who doesn’t love Cheese? It comes in so many shapes and sizes, cut-able or stringy! Wisconsin is known for their cheese, and these string cheeses are the perfect road trip snack! Buy why stop with string cheese? There’s also Babybel Cheese or Cheese cubes! You can also buy a block of cheese and cut it up before hitting the road. So many options!

Did someone say Candy?

Candy of any kind always makes the top 20 road trip snacks list in some shape or form. Many of us have that sweet tooth that must be tamed. There’s nothing like driving in the middle of no where and be struck with that craving for some chocolaty goodness.

If you are craving chocolate but are trying to be a little more healthy with your options, look no further. BarkTHINS have you covered. Consider the variety pack, as you never know what mood will strike. My personal favorite is the dark chocolate MINT!

What about the jerk?

Beef Jerky has long been a staple in many people’s lives. It’ll certainly keep you awake while driving as you are chewing endlessly on this flavorful meat snack.

Homemade protein balls can be as healthy as you want. These are easy and no baking required. These lovely balls were made by moi. If you wish to recreate them, here’s the how to: 1 cup oatmeal, 1 cup natural nut butter (I love peanut butter), 1/4 cup honey, 6 tbsp protein powder, and add whatever else is in your cupboard. I always add 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp ground flax seeds and 1/4 cup mini chocolate chip morsels. It’s easy, non-processed, filling snacks for the go.

Looking for something different? Craving fish on the go? Tuna Packets make it easy! The downfall though, you may want to bring a spoon. Eating this with your fingers is possible, but messy. Plus, that’s just gross.

Hard boiled eggs

This takes a little pre-planning, but hard-boiled eggs can be a healthy snack. To reduce the mess, peel them ahead of time and keep them in a sealed container in the cooler until you’re ready to ingest.

Thanks to Kellog’s individual single serve variety packs, dry cereal made the top 20 road trip snack list! This pack was a staple of mine for camping trips of yesteryear! So easy to pack and snack.

Squeezable applesauce – it’s not just for babies any more! This is the perfect road trip snack as no spoons are needed! Kids especially love to eat and drink out of squeezable things, so they’ll eat their fruit and think it’s fun!
